A perennial winner at the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Pacific Southwest Regional Conference, Cal Poly again dominated the contest with first place wins in six events, including Concrete Canoe. Cal Poly Supermileage Vehicle Again a Top Eco-Marathon Finisher
At this year's Shell Eco-Marathon Americas competition of high-mileage, fuel-saving prototype vehicles, Cal Poly entered as the returning champion and came in second place with 2752.3 mpg, a 45% improvement over last year's 1902.7 mpg win.

Event Advisory: Fifth Annual International CubeSat Developers Workshop
Started in 1999, the CubeSat Project began as a collaborative effort between California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo and Stanford University's Space Systems Development Laboratory to provide standards for the design of picosatellites. As a result, picosatellites that are built by students at universities world-wide are launched using a common deployer known as a "P-POD," developed at Cal Poly.

Budget Crisis a Major Factor for CENG Fall 2008 Enrollment
The downward spiral of California's state budget crisis is a major factor shaping this fall's Cal Poly and College of Engineering undergraduate class. Although applications are increasing, unless the Legislature restores forecasted cuts to the CSU budget, the number of new students enrolled at Cal Poly will drop by 1,831-1,881. That means admission into the College of Engineering, one of the most competitive majors at Cal Poly, will be even more difficult.

The Cal Poly Formula Hybrid Team has received a $12,500 grant to develop and race a plug-in hybrid vehicle in the Formula Hybrid International Competition, May 5-7 in Loudon, NH. Cal Poly is one of only two schools in the state of California to get the grant.
